The Ruger 10/22 rifle is said by many to be the worlds most popular rifle.  According to Ruger, there have been "millions" of this 22 caliber rifle sold since it was first designed in 1964.

The Ruger 1022 is chambered in the 22 LR and as of 2012, there are 5 basic configuration that are available - all 22 caliber versions have an aluminum receiver.

* the 10/22 International with Mannlicher style stock has been discontinued along with the .22 Magnum version.  As of March 2012, the 10/22 was introduced in the Takedown version and is delivered in a backpack type case, marketed as a survival rifle.

The Ruger 10/22 is chambered in the .22 Long Rifle only.

 

Magazine and Capacity:

The 10 22 has a removable rotary magazine with a 10 or 5 22 caliber capacity. There are many types of magazines for the Ruger 10/22. The standard 10/22 ships with a black 10 round rotary magazine. Ruger has also produced a clear, polycarbonate 40th anniversary edition 10 round magazine as well as a five round rotary magazine (for states that restrict magazine capacities). In 2011-2012 Ruger came out with a 25 round box magazine with a black composite frame and steel feed lips. Aftermarket options include 25, 30, and 50 round box magazines; 50 round tear-drop-shaped rotary magazines, and a 50 round drum magazine.
